Scientifically, we need it;
Perhaps it’s purpose is to stretch across palms,
to grasp and carry,
to hold and caress-
But we have repurposed it.
Vigorous motions of an opposable
Except it does not reach the other digits.
The alternative position is fit for this generation,
A symbol of communication;
Laughing and sharing
Tapping and killing
Over
And
Over
It taps.
