wake up check the news
wash face
scrub hands
check the news again
open apps
check on friends in faraway places
hope they are safe and healthy
hope they aren’t afraid
read about how
“it’s only old and
sick people”
so it doesn’t matter
drop cousin at work
tell them to take care and to wash their hands every chance they get
check the news again
check on friends again
check the news again
hope and hope and hope again.
Great poem, Vlad. The repetition of "again" definitely describes my days spent at home recently. I find myself in a loop sometimes and not in a good way. I want to create routine, however, one that is meaningful and solid. I have found myself in bursts of creativity and motivation throughout the day, but I am disrupted by 'BREAKING NEWS' notifications, e-mails from my editor and classmates and professors and texts from returning friends who I won't be seeing -- When I feel overwhelmed I'll bake something, like a pizza, and then I feel tired and so I lay down on a couch and watch 'Sailing the World' videos on YouTube and daydream.
My school is meant to be on…
come get
